Northumbria in Bloom Judges have
been out at 9am this morning to do the summer judging. They
could see that we have made an effort and fully understand the challenges
we're up against. They've given us every encouragement to "keep
on keeping on", so maybe in the next two or three years...we'll
give it our best shot! They will be sending us a feedback report
in due course which will be published on the website. |

Good news - Thomas Street railings refurbishment
is now going ahead as planned. Green Corridor has promised to
issue clearer guidelines explaining how/where the community's environmental
caretakers can be deployed. This will ensure similar misunderstandings
don't arise in future. |

We have been awarded a grant of £3,157
from County Durham Foundation. Hurray! Acceptance form has
been sent off, so hope it won't be too long before we have some real
funds in the bank account to help us with our Northumbria in Bloom

Last year Derwentside Council donated
8 second-hand fibreglass street planters (green colour, 3 foot
square, 18 inches high) and 8 hanging baskets (without chains) which
we still haven't used. These are being held at the Morrison Busty
depot and it needs to be decided where the planters will go for the
2004 Northumbria in Bloom competition. |
